Current Area of Research Analog Memories: The lab has acquired expertise in design of adaptable non-volatile analog memories using floating gate CMOS technology and is engaged in designing: (i) ICs with tunable components (ii) Adaptable circuits Neuromorphic Systems: These systems aim to model brain in silicon. The greatest bottleneck in this area is to store modifiable analog weights (memory) and to perform on-chip learning (adaptation). The lab has developed a novel Floating gate CMOS "time staggered Winner Take All" circuit that is capable of performing on-chip "competitive learning". This circuit embedded on a 2D RC network performs similar to self-organizing features maps in mammalian visual cortex. |
